Zig Zag Partings

zig zag partingNo, you were not original. Every little nineties girl tried this technical feat at some point in her life. The zig zag parting required patience and skill. In order to look really special, you had to space the diagonals just right. I remember spending about 2 hours trying to get it just right before I met a date at age 14. You could also go really wacky and tie up the two halves into buns and look like a character out of the Fifth Element.

  1. Some of us had zig-zag partings long before the 90s. But that was because we couldn’t make a straight one! We got into SO much trouble from the teachers at school.

And, the swap from centre parting (when I had pigtails) to side partings in my teens and 20s, to no parting in my 30s left me with umpteen partings for my hair to chose. Alas, it is now permanently zig-zag, which would give Miss Mackafee the keniptions if she saw me now. But then, she would be 152 probably, so I doubt she would see me… unless, of course, she’s looking down from Up There.

Oh, glory be… probably hundreds of angels saying: “look at that woman. What a dreadful parting she has…”
