Spice Girls

Every female born after 1983 has done a Sporty Spice kick. There was Sporty Spice (Mel C), Scary Spice (Mel B), Baby Spice (Emma B), Posh Spice (Victoria) and Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell). Nobody ever wanted to be Baby Spice. Girl Power infused the nineties with high-kicks, shouted lyrics and tasteless costumes. Where would we be without that little Union Jack dress? or Scary Spice’s Tin Tin trousers in the video of Wannabe?

Some say that the only Spanish they know, they learnt from Shakira. Well, long before that little upstart hit the scene, the Spice Girls had educated us in the latin tongue “Hasta manana, always be mine…” in Viva Forever (because Geri Halliwell had a Spanish upbringing!)

In a fit of girl power, the Spice Girls eventually sacked their manager which sadly signalled their demise -completed by Spice World -The Movie, until this 2008, with the Spice Girls reunion.

How, though, did they get to meet Nelson Mandela, Pavarotti, Prince Charles and the rest of them? Can you imagine that happening with the Pussycat Dolls now?
