Allo Allo
Allo Allo is a farcical comedy about a French cafe owner juggling the secrets of French, British and German wartime interests -as well as his own. The show ran from 1982 to 1992 and followed the progress of Rene who has to hide paintings for different German factions, act for different Resistance factions, hide two British airmen and conceal his affairs with two of the waitresses. The French characters spoke with a French accent and the English characters spoke with BBC accents. The most famous lines were “Good Moaning” -representing mis-pronounced French by an English character and “Listen very carefully -I shall say zis only once” -from Michelle the Resistance operative:
